How Sharp Christmas Light Installation Works

Four steps, one of them is yours. Step one takes about a minute. We handle the other three.

The ladder, the December cold, the strand that goes dark on the roof, the same Saturday every year. Here is what happens to that job.

1. You get your price

Answer a few questions online, or call and we’ll talk through where you want your lights. You get a real figure for your address, and nothing is ordered until you approve it.

2. We design it and cut it to your house

We map what gets lit: roofline, peaks, trees, columns, windows, the front door, whatever you want traced. Then your strands are cut to your house instead of bought off a shelf and stretched to fit. No gaps, no loose wire, and nothing doubles back over a gutter.

3. We install it and set the timer

A trained Sharp crew hangs it, tests every run and sets the timer so it comes on by itself when it gets dark. You do not touch anything all season, and you are not holding a ladder for anybody.

4. We maintain it, take it down and store it

If a section goes dark, tell us and it is fixed within 72 hours. That is part of the price, not a service call. After the new year we take it all down, label it and store it until next season.

Holiday Lighting Installation Options, From Rooflines to Full Displays

Most homes start at the roofline. The price moves with what you add.

Color if you want it. The same line, the same spacing, five colors in rotation along every gable and eave.
Warm white

Soft, steady, and the look that reads as finished rather than decorated. Traced along the roofline and the peaks, usually with the entry framed to match. It is the default, and it is what most of the houses on this page are wearing.

Classic red and green

The colors people picture when they say Christmas lights. Alternated bulb by bulb along the roof runs, and it reads from the far end of the block.

Multicolor

Red, green, blue, orange and purple, traced along the peaks and the eaves. Good on a house with a lot of roof geometry, because the color follows every angle.

Trees, shrubs, columns and the full display

Bare trees wrapped out to the branch tips, shrubs lit along the beds, porch columns, window frames and a wreath on the door. This is the version people slow down for, and it is priced by how much of it you want.

Changing your colors later

Colors are chosen before install day, and changing your mind before we hang it is fine. Mini strands switch colors for free, and the larger roofline bulbs cost 50 cents a bulb to switch during your first three seasons. There is no app and no remote: the strand comes on by itself at dusk, and that is the whole idea.

How the lease works, in plain English

You do not buy the lights

Sharp owns and maintains every bulb, clip and strand. The lease includes the lights, the install, support while they are up, takedown and storage, so nothing ends up in a tub in your garage.

Your price is locked for three seasons

Your price is set per season and held for three seasons, so it does not move on you next year. After three seasons it renews unless you cancel in writing 30 days before the term ends.

Two payments a season

Half when you accept the quote and half at installation, both charged to the card on file. In later seasons the first half is due by October 15.

Takedown and Storage in January

Takedown starts January 2, and the weather picks the days from there. Every strand and clip comes off the house, and nothing stays behind. Removal and storage are included, and next November your lights come back checked and ready to hang.

Christmas Light Installation Questions

How much does professional Christmas light installation cost?

Most first seasons land between $500 and $2,000, or roughly $6 to $12 per linear foot installed. What moves the number is how much roofline you light, how high the peaks are, and whether you add trees, columns, windows or the front door.

What is included, and do you supply the lights?

Design, strands cut to your house, the install, an automatic timer, maintenance during the season, takedown after the new year, and storage until next year. Commercial grade materials come with the lease, so nothing has to fit in your garage. One price, split into two payments a season.

What does the 3-year price lock commit me to?

Your price is set per season and locked for three seasons, so the cost doesn’t climb while you’re on it. You pay in two parts a season, half when you accept and half at installation, both charged to the card on file. After the three seasons it renews unless you cancel in writing 30 days before the term ends, and ending early costs half of the balance left. Nothing is ordered until you approve the quote.

Will the clips damage my roof or gutters?

No. Clips, not nails or screws. Strands hang from clips that hook over the shingle edge or the gutter lip, nothing is drilled or stapled into the roof, and nothing stays on the house after takedown in January.

Is Sharp insured, and who is actually on the ladder?

Sharp is a licensed, insured provider, and a trained Sharp crew does the work. The result comes from the system every house goes through, not from which technician happens to show up that day.

What happens if a bulb goes out during the season?

Tell us and it’s fixed within 72 hours. In season maintenance is part of the price, not a separate service call, so a dark section is our problem to solve rather than yours to climb up and look at.

When do I need to book to be lit by December 1st?

Confirm your estimate with a card on file by November 15. That’s the deadline behind the December 1st Guarantee: confirm by that date and your lights are up by December 1. Want it lit before Thanksgiving? Book by November 1 and we hang it by November 15. After November 15 we install as the calendar allows.
